My Position

People over party is who I am. I grew up in a Greek American family that valued the individual and respect for others regardless of their origin, orientation, or different point of view. We were often judged by our dark looks, accent, customs, or faith.

My mother would say, "Never judge a person by one characteristic — but by their character. Character is defined by how you treat others."

As a mother, I deeply believe in these values. As an attorney, I practice these values every day to represent my clients. Valuing the individual and respecting others is the foundation for every positive, productive relationship — including the relationship between neighbors who happen to vote differently.

As your State Representative, I will represent every person in the District regardless of their political party. I will work for the best interests of our whole community, not the agenda of one party over another — The Best for the West.

What is the Job

The Ohio House defines a state representative's job simply:

• listen to constituents,

• speak for them, and

• turn District needs into legislative action.

Represent the district — full stop. No mention of political party. That's the correct standard for this job. That's why I'm running: people over party – our community first.

Current Political Landscape

People ask, "Are you Republican or Democrat," and don't go any further, party over people. Judgment on one characteristic, not character.

Some of you have asked me why I don't lead with the fact that I'm the Republican candidate in this race. The answer: I am the Republican on the ballot, and I believe in the principles that brought me to the party. But that's not the strongest reason to earn your vote. I believe the people in District 16 — Democrat, Republican, and Independent — want the same things: lower taxes, responsible spending, strong schools and businesses, and safe, beautiful, and friendly neighborhoods.

I'm the best person to represent those interests. I have deep roots in the Westside — I've lived here for over 40 years. My husband and I have raised our children here, grown our businesses here, and made lifelong friendships here. I am you.

What We Can Do

• Reset. As a community, commit to less judgment by political label, less contention, more listening, more respect for others, more kindness.

• Listen. As your Representative, I will seek your input and listen to your concerns, ideas, and priorities across the political spectrum.

• Represent the District first. My first question on any issue: what does this mean for our community? Representation requires independence — I won't back something because my party says to, and I won't reject a good idea because the other party proposed it.

• Work to solve problems. Good ideas don't belong to one party. I will proactively work to resolve issues in our community's favor, and when Republicans and Democrats find common ground that benefits our District, I'll work with them.

You can reach out to me, regardless of your party, and tell me your thoughts, concerns, and what you think is best for our District. I will listen to and respect your point of view.

You won't agree with every vote I cast, and I won't expect you to. But you can expect that I listened, did my homework, and made the call I believed was right for the District.
